6/25/11: Today I am going home with the Walton’s and I now have a family of my very own. Jenny and Allen are good friends to the collies in rescue and wanted to help out a senior citizen. I sure am glad they decided on me! That’s Lumpy in the middle and Siegfried on the right. They were also adopted from collie rescue and have welcomed me to their home. Thanks to everyone that helped me find a family that will love and care for me.
6/18/11: Today the Piedmont Collie Club came to groom the rescue collies. As you can see I am really loving the beauty treatment and never had one before. Jim fixed my hair just as I requested but Miss Jean wouldn’t let him trim my mohawk though, lol. He brushed out all my winter coat, cut my nails and cleaned my ears. I’m ready for my new home and looking beautiful! Thank you Jim and the Piedmont Collie Club.
6/4/11: My people took me to the animal shelter at the age of ten. I was just devastated they would do this to me however now I know it was my lucky day. You see in the picture how brown my coat is? Well I am a tri color collie and my hair should be black. It is from spending many years in the hot sun that it has bleached my coat. They also did not provided me with heartworm preventative so I have received treatment for them. I never knew life could be this good and we just pretty much accepted the life we are given because it was all I knew. I never imagined there was such a thing as a dog bed to lie on and they have those here! When I went to the vet for my treatment he said I had perfect bloodwork and in great health.
Now if you have looked at Harry’s picture and saw his mohawk going down his muzzle I have to tell you mine will put his to shame. Miss Jean puts hair gel on mine and it is about a half inch long. She says it is way cool and hair products are new to me. I feel like a teenager learning about beauty products for ladies. I am housetrained, love adults, children other dogs and the cat.
I am looking for a permanent foster home. Permanent foster families provide love, security, food and a safe environment for us while Collie Rescue of the Carolinas continues to cover our reasonable medical costs. In return, we will make you laugh and bring you joy. We’re old enough to laugh at ourselves, and act just like puppies, but without all the bad habits. All we want is a loving home to spend our senior days.
It is the senior collies that need you the most. They have given many years of service to a family that no longer wants them or hasn’t taken care of them. The rescue realizes it is hard to take in a collie knowing they will only be with you for a few years. However I have found the older they are the more time I spend with them because they are such a joy to be around.
