Link: Four or five year old male with the heart of a puppy. What a fun guy he is at seventy pounds. Evaluation is in progress.

Today is April 5th, we are two weeks old and our eyes haven’t opened yet. Let us tell you our story and how we came to be with collie rescue: Mom is a beautiful sheltie that is about two years old and her name is Demi for mother earth. Her people dumped her out on a country road where dogs are dumped all the time. She finally found a house with some nice people and gave birth to us pups the next day. There were five of us in the beginning but only us two made it. The nice folks called collie rescue to pick us up and they did. They took us straight to the vet and found out mom only has two nipples giving milk and they had a rash making it uncomfortable for us to nurse. Mom was doing the best she could and needed some help so Dr. Jackson supplied the rescue with bottles, milk and antibiotics for mom to get better. We have a room of our own with a heating pad to keep us warm. It will be time for us for us to find our forever home when we are about eight weeks old. We don’t know anything about our dad and do not think he was a sheltie so that makes us mixes. Mom is going to need a home also when we are weaned. She has a Cerebellar Disorder, a malfunction causing un-coordination and her legs don’t always do what she wants them to so she sometimes steps high. Our mom has a wonderful spirit and so happy in spite of the life she has had. The black and white one is me the little girl. The brown fellow is me the little boy.
Tabor: Four year old tri, smooth collie girl. Housetrained, crate trained and know basic commands.
Sandy here, a twelve year old sheltie lady who is so sweet. A nice lady picked me up as I was about to cross a busy street. From my tag she found my address and took me home and quickly found out I wasn’t wanted there. You see my person went into a nursing home so I had to go live at his son’s house. I had always been a house dog and very loved and now lived in the garage with no one who cared. She let him know she would be glad to take me and he couldn’t figure why she would want an old dog like me. She then brought me to collie rescue and I’m in the house again with a bed for me. Now folks I am no old lady and shelties can live up to sixteen years or longer. I am housetrained, crate trained, love everyone and cats are ok. I just know there is someone for me.

My name is Connor, a three year old, smooth collie fellow. I am housetrained, crated trained, like the other dogs and really love children. A mellow kind of fellow who can be a little shy sometimes.
Cee Cee: Five year old female with evaluation in progress.
Hi I’m Dusty, an eight year old gentleman looking for my forever home. My greatest desire is to have a family to be with and belong to. I’m a great guy who is well mannered, housetrained and enjoy walks and rides in the car. I love everyone, other dogs, children and even cats. Any where you are is where I want to be.
Fella: Ten month old male with evaluation in progress.
Hi! My name is Bob Marley, (aka Robert, BoBo) and I am being fostered in Columbia, MD. Found half-starved and with my beautiful, thick coat in dreadlocks, look at me now! With the help of several dedicated groomers, and good food, I’m beginning to look like my handsome self. At 10+ years and with arthritis in my shoulders and elbows, I’m no longer up for much running or games of chase, but I still enjoy a brief romp, a roll in the grass, lying in the shade surveying my kingdom and casual strolls. I’m also a quiet fella, having been debarked at some time in my past. As for grooming, I enjoy being brushed almost as much as having my ears rubbed. Yeah, I’m an affectionate guy and will give you Collie kisses in return for ear rubs and sweet words. Now just because I move slowly, don’t get the idea that my brain is sluggish. When I and my foster brothers start feeling peckish, I’m the ringleader in counter- and table-surfing. I’ve learned how to open zippered tote bags containing goodies and even consumed some pistachios, leaving the shells in a neat pile on the floor. My foster mom was laughing too hard to scold me for that stunt. Because of my special needs - arthritis maintenance medication and mobility issues - I MUST have a home without stairs. Although I get along with other dogs and cats (as long as they don’t crowd my personal space or food), I would really like a home where I am the only dog – preferably with a senior citizen or couple who are looking for the companionship and affection of a mellow fellow like me. Could that be you? If so, call Lisa at 301-256-5122, or email info@MarylandCollieRescue.com
Hello my name is Baxter, a smooth collie mix fellow about one year old and fifty pounds. Most everything about me says collie, head, markings, temperament and talent. The only thing different is my ears are a little long and the marbling on my tan points. No matter, I am a great guy and that is all that counts. I love children, other dogs, cats and everyone. When we go out to play I let the puppies chew on my legs, will lay down on my back so that little dog can tackle me and chew on my ears. I’m a good baby sitter if you have other dogs. I do pretty much what is asked of me and enjoy my peoples company. If you want to run, walk, go for rides or watch TV that is fine with me. I am housetrained, crated trained, know sit and learning other commands. If you are looking for a good companion that would be me.
Bree: Not a collie??? Then what am I? Well let me tell you, I am The North Carolina State dog which is a Plott Hound and the only breed to have originated in the state. Also only one of four breeds known to be of American origin. I am eager to please, loyal, intelligent, and alert. The AKC says we are bold, and fearless hunters developed as a wild boar hound and to tree bears. Now I don’t mind chasing a rabbit or squirrel but a bear, I’ve never even seen one except on TV. They call me Bree for my beautiful brindle coat and I’m almost a year old. I’m a slim 45 lbs. and 28” at the shoulder, have been spayed, gotten shots, micro chipped, and learned a lot of other things, too. I’m good in the car and am house trained, crate-trained, know basic commands and come when called. I run and run at top speed, then collapse and take a nap. Then I wake up and do it again. I love to hang with my foster people and make a good house dog. I like the horses and other dogs and have finally learned to get along with that mean cat that lives there but please no bears or wild boars. When my forever people show up, I’ll be all ready for them.
