Hello folks!

I’m Vanna and I live with a permanent foster family. Most dogs that enter the rescue will go to a forever home. Unfortunately, some dogs can’t be placed for adoption because of limited life expectancy. Our advanced age or serious medical condition is often the reason we find ourselves abandoned, especially given the pressures of the current economy. Sometimes our family has lost their home or had to move without us. We’ve lost everyone and everything we’ve known for our whole lives.

Permanent foster families provide love, security, and a safe environment for us while Collie Rescue of the Carolinas continues to cover our reasonable medical costs. In return,we will make you laugh and bring you joy. We’re old enough to laugh at ourselves, and act just like puppies, but without all the bad habits. All we want is a loving, quiet place to spend the time we have left in peace.

When you become a permanent foster you fill out an application and are visited at home by a volunteer just like if you were adopting a dog. Our rescue pays for all approved medical costs. CRC approves each veterinary visit prior to scheduling an appointment, except in the case of emergency. Basic necessities other than food are also provided. The foster family provides a home, food, transportation to and from the vet, and lots of love. It takes special people to take us in, knowing we won’t be here long, but they love us like we’ll be here forever. 5/12/12:  Hi, my name is Maggie and I came into rescue with the Cowboy and the Steeler so I guess that makes me the cheerleader.  I am a sable & white female collie girl at about five years old.  Unlike them I have been in a 10 X 10 dog lot most of my life.  When I first touched that wooden deck it was something I have never experienced and would only crawl on my belly.  After an hour I was use to that and no problem at all.  I will tackle the tile floor in the coming weeks.  I will be going to the vet to have my teeth cleaned, spayed and I have a light case of heartworms that will need to be treated.  All it takes is one mosquito bite to infect us dogs with heartworms.  If you would like to help with my medical care just hit that donate button and designate you are helping me.  Thank you, Maggie

 5/12/12:  They call me Steeler and like the Cowboy I think it has something to do with football but don’t really understand.  I am a tri color, male collie and my date of birth is 8/28/03.  My coat wasn’t as bad as the Cowboy’s so I didn’t have to be shaved.  I have only been here a couple of days and understand I will have my teeth cleaned and be neutered before going to my forever home.  Unfortunately I also have heartworms that will need to be treated.  I am in great health but due to my age the rescue would like to place me in what they call a permanent foster home.  This is where the rescue will pay for all my medical needs and all you have to do is love me the rest of my life.  If you would like to help with my medical needs just hit that donate button and say it is for me.

4/28/12:  Today I start my new life with Lori and my new name is Clarence.  Mom is in a good home and doesn’t have to worry about us or us about her.  Thank you folks for everything you have done for my family.

4/7/12: I’m a collie senior at about ten years.  I was found wandering down the middle of the street in downtown.  Some wonderful folks took me and called the collie rescue.  Now I am going home with Gayle & Tommy where I will be a permanent foster dog.  This means the rescue will pay for my medical needs and all they have to do is love me.  I am fitting in well here with the others and theTaylor’s love the way I talk to them with that collie talk.  If you would like to help with my care just hit that donate button and thank you for helping this senior lady.

4/21/12:  Today I am going home with the Nix Family and their collie girl Zoey.  She was also adopted from the collie rescue and will help me adjust to my new life.  We are going to be best buddies and have so much fun playing together.  Thanks everyone for helping me to find this great family.

4/14/12:  Hi there, my name is Charlie and I am a 1 ½ year old collie girl.  I am in rescue because my people lived in a small condo and realized I needed more room to exercise.  Us young collies need a fenced yard where we can run and play safely.  I’m a great girl that is housetrained and also crate trained.  I love playing with the other dogs and the children that visit here at the rescue.

4/14/12:  Hi folks my name is Lassie and I just came into rescue yesterday.  My person was disabled and we did not have a fenced yard so I kind of just roamed the neighborhood.  The neighbor started complaining and mom didn’t want to tie me up so she felt it was best to find me a new home.  She loved me very much but put my best interest before her feelings and gave me a new family.  Mom wrote an informative note for the adopters about how much I love cheeseburgers and to ride in the car.  Well Miss Jan came today to meet the collies and decided I would be a good fit for her family which includes two male dogs.  On the way to my new home we stopped and got a cheeseburger so I believe this is going to be good with me.  Miss Jean let my other mom know I am in good hands and will be very much loved.  Thank you collie rescue folks for being there for me when I needed you.

4/21/12:  I am going home with Ms. Terri and we will be living inSouth Carolinawhich is where I came from.  We are going to go on errands, walks and watch TV together.  She says they have treats for dogs at the bank and the drug store.  There is no doubt I will be spoiled and get lots of belly rubs which I love.  I will take very good care of her and thank you guys for helping me find Terri.  Simon

4/8/12:  My name is Simon and I am about 5 years old.  I just got here yesterday and my family no longer wanted me.  The kids had lost interest in playing with me and I was spending all my time in a dog lot alone.  I am sweet little fellow who is very gentle and just want someone to love me.
