Sassy (Available)

5/15/25: Hi there! I’m Sassy—and yes, the name fits! I’m a petite little lady with a big heart and even bigger zoomies. I’ve just wrapped up my job as a supermom to some adorable pups (if I do say so myself), and now I’m ready for my time to shine.

I’ve loved being a mama, but now that my babies are almost ready to leave the nest, I’m dreaming about being pampered and doted on like the queen I am. I love toys, I love playing, and I really love other dogs who like to romp and wrestle like I do. If you’ve got a playful pup at home, I’d probably fit right in!

Now, about cats… I haven’t met one yet, so no promises there. But I can promise you this—I’m one of the happiest, most love-filled girls you’ll ever meet. I give love, I soak up love, and I’m always ready for more.

I’ll need a family who likes to move. Walks, yard zoomies, playtime—bring it on! I’m fast. Like, really fast. I didn’t get much of a chance to be a puppy before, so I’m kind of making up for lost time now. Think of me as a puppy in a grown-up dog body—full of curiosity, energy, and joy.

I’m still learning a few things, like how to be the best house dog I can be. I’ve done pretty well with house training. I haven’t been crated lately because I needed to be close to my pups, but I might need a little crate time now and then to help me brush up on manners.

I’d do great with older kids, especially the ones who like to run and play. What I really want is a family that will help me learn, love me endlessly, and let me be my silly, speedy, snuggly self.

So… what do you think? Ready to meet your new best girl?

6/4/25:  The family who came to meet me had a shared fence with neighbors who own two basset hounds—and let’s just say, those hounds weren’t exactly welcoming. It wasn’t anything I did, but because of that, I came back to the rescue.  I’m a friendly, easygoing guy who gets along well with just about everyone—humans, other dogs, and even cats (though I might give chase if they run). I recently had a spa day at the groomer, and with all that thick undercoat gone, I’m looking much slimmer!  I do enjoy a good game of fetch and even bring the toy back and drop it for another throw. When I’m outside and ready to come in, I let out a pleasant little yodel to let you know. I ride well in the car, walk nicely on a loose leash, and of course, I’m housetrained. I’m also crate trained, though I really don’t need one.

5/11/25:  Hello, I’m a 3-year-old Collie boy who found myself at the shelter after my family could no longer keep me. I’m a big, classic-style Collie, tipping the scales at 80 pounds. You might notice my charming “lazy ear” that flops instead of standing up—just one of the little things that makes me unique. All my vet work is done, and now I just need a good grooming. Stay tuned—my rescue friends will share more about me as they get to know me better!

6/7/25:  Lisa and Richie came for a visit and decided to make it official by taking me home! They’re experienced with shy dogs and understand I’ll need a little time to settle in. I’ve already made a new friend, Abby—she’s about my age and full of confidence, which I’m sure she’ll help me build. It’s peaceful here, just the way I like it. They’ve already figured out how smart I am and know I’m a truly special dog.

6/4/25:  Well, my DNA test results are in, and just as we thought—I’m mostly Collie! The Border Collie in me shows up in my coloring and my smarts, but when it comes to personality and temperament, I’m all Collie through and through. I’m a gentle, easygoing, and quiet kind of guy. Fetch isn’t really my thing, but I do enjoy trotting around the yard with a toy now and then.

5/11/25  I’m a 4-year-old, smart and lovable guy weighing in at about 60 pounds. I recently came to the rescue after my previous family could no longer afford to care for me. I’ve always been well looked after, so this big change has me a little confused.  I may not look exactly like a traditional Collie, but I’ve got the heart of one—and my DNA test is on the way to confirm it! I’m a sweet, loyal companion who loves to be by your side. I’m already doing great with basic obedience and walk nicely on a loose leash.  I’m house-trained, crate-trained (though I don’t really need the crate), and I ride like a champ in the car. I get along wonderfully with kids, other dogs, and even cats. I might be a little shy at first, but once I get to know you, I’ll be your devoted friend.
